Happy New Year 2010

My mom bought me some boots for winter, and here is a picture of me during the first fitting. I hated the boots, and my mom said I would only have to wear them when it gets really, really cold. So far I haven't had to wear them, but if I do, I plan on pulling them off the first chance I get when I go outside.

My friend Monte stayed at my house for a week in December. Here's a picture of me watching her eat. She guards her food and kind of growls at me if I get too close. After she finishes her dinner, I always check her bowl to see if she missed any.

I was really good during Thanksgiving dinner and only stole one napkin. Christmas was fun. I got a bunch of new toys and I was really good when people were here at my house. Here's a picture of me with two of my new toys. (I pulled all the stuffing out of the green dog toy a couple of days after this picture was taken.)

Winter has been kind of boring so far. I miss my daily walks and playing with my friend, Giggles. When we had a lot of snow, my cool dad made me some paths in the yard so I didn't have to walk through the deep snow. (I did anyway) A couple of months ago, before it started snowing, I started running out of the yard into the woods. I thought I was helping by keeping the yard free of rabbits, but my dad didn't like having to wipe mud off me every night. My mom and dad put up some of the dreaded "flags" in the yard, and now I have to wear my special collar when I go outside. I've decided to stop chasing rabbits for now, but I still chase the birds at the bird feeder. That's what dogs are supposed do, right?

New GRIN Friend and Bath Time (again)

I have a new friend at doggie day care. Her name is Tori, and she was adopted recently from GRIN (Golden Retrievers In Need). She is really shy, and doesn't play with the other dogs yet, but she is getting more comfortable with us each day.

Since I go to doggie day care three times a week, I have to have a bath about once a month. I recently had to have a bath before we had a picnic. My mom took some embarrassing pictures:

This is what I do after the bath to get rid of that "clean" smell...
The best part after the bath is getting brushed...

Christmas in August

My mom ordered me some toys and when the box arrived, I was allowed to pick one toy. The box is in the basement now, and whenever I go downstairs, I sit by the box hoping to get another toy.

Patrolling the Yard

I love to chase animals. Rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, cats... especially cats. Recently I saw the neighbor cat walking through his yard. That cat just annoys me. My mom let me out and I ran out of my yard and into the cats backyard and onto the neighbors deck. This is where the story gets sketchy because my parents couldn't see what happened. The next thing I remembered, I was running back home yelping. They couldn't find any blood, so I guess I was ok. My girlfriend Giggles and her dad came over to check on me. I was fine and they told us the cat was fine. I heard my mom say "I guess it's time to put the flags back up to remind him where the line is." I'm not sure what that means, but they haven't put that fence collar on me in a long time because I usually stay in the yard.

We have a lot of chipmunks and squirrels in our yard. Here is a picture of me and a squirrel in a staring contest. I was standing really still and the squirrel kept looking in the window at me. My mom let me out and I chased it up a tree.

My New Furniture

My mom bought some new furniture and I immediately made sure it was comfortable...

I also showed them that I have no problem fitting on this new footstool...

Doggie Sleep Over

My friend Giggles stayed at our house for two nights in April. We had so much fun playing that we were forced to take time outs to rest.
She wasn't tall enough to use my food bowls.
I tried to tell her that I'm not allowed up on the couch like this, but my mom let her!

Happy April

I had to have a bath this weekend because we had people over for Easter dinner. (my mom says doggie day care makes me smell really bad) This is a picture of me after my bath:

During Easter dinner, I was really good and didn't steal any napkins or food, but I did try to sniff any food that came near me.

I went to the vet last week for my yearly check-up. I weigh 84 lbs., so now I'm on a diet to lose a few pounds.

There's a new dog in the neighborhood named Dixie. Dixie is kind of rough when she plays, so I haven't played with her much. Here is a picture of me with Dixie:

I heard my parents talking about my friend, Giggles, coming over for a few days this week while her family goes on vacation. I can't wait!

Eddy's Birthday (March 3)

On my birthday I went to doggie day care and played with my friends. When I got home, my mom gave me a special dinner. Here is a picture of me licking the spoon...
After dinner, my parents said it was too cold for a walk (19 degrees), so my dad took me for a ride to Grandma and Grandpa's house. When we got home, I curled up on the couch next to my mom and she scratched me until it was bedtime. It was a great day!
Note from Mom: We don't know the exact date of Eddy's birthday. We celebrate his birthday on March 3rd, which is the day we adopted him. At that time, it was estimated that he was about a year old.

My Frosty February

Is winter over yet? I was really happy to go on a couple of walks on the few warm February days, and I met some new dogs in the neighborhood. I've been chasing the birds at the bird feeder and the rabbits out of my yard. My parents have been leaving me out of my crate during the days that I don't go to doggie daycare. I've been really good, so I can't wait to see what I get on my birthday March 3rd. My parents can't believe it's been 2 years since they brought me home from my foster home!

Here I am with a new toy (I ripped all the stuffing out of it right after this picture was taken)...

I had fun playing in the deep snow with my neighbor, Giggles...

I took a lot of naps...

I helped shred some paper during a birthday party...
I'm looking forward to a warmer March with longer, more frequent walks!

Snow and Cold

There's a lot of snow here in Cleveland and it's cold. There were a couple of days that it was so cold (-4 degrees) that my feet hurt when I went outside. My mom tried putting some doggie boots on me, but I hated them and tried to rip them off. Here are some pictures of me from the past couple of weekends...

Nap time!

Merry Christmas

My family put up a tree in our house. I left the tree alone, but I really wanted to lay on the cool blanket that my mom put under the tree. Here is a picture of me sleeping under the tree:

My mom told me that on Christmas Eve there would be lots of people at our house and that I needed to behave. No stealing napkins off of people's laps or grabbing food off the table. (For the record, I've never stolen any food from the table or counter.) I promised to be good. My aunt brought me a gift and let me open it first thing:

It was a big stuffed ball with a squeaker inside. I played with my new toy all night, and before the party ended, I got a little crazy with it:

Oh well! Everyone enjoyed watching me pull the stuffing out of my new toy.

My mom said I was very good that evening. I helped people unwrap their gifts and I also helped shred the wrapping paper.

On Christmas Day, I got more toys! Here is a picture of me with my big rawhide bone.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Eddy's Letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

I have been very good this year, and here is my Christmas list:

A new Kong filled with peanut butter and treats.
A new Kong Wubba with a loud squeaker.
A new stuffed toy with a loud squeaker.
A big rawhide that I can chew on for hours.
A nice, long belly rub while lying on the couch or the bed.
A long walk every day, even if it's raining or really cold.
A dog that can live with me and play with me every day.
And please help all lost and rescued doggies find a great home like mine.

I promise not to bark at you when you come down the chimney.

Love,
Eddy

A Fun Thanksgiving Weekend

My mom took me to Petco on Wednesday. I love that place because there are some great smells there. Unfortunately, we weren’t there to shop. My mom left me there with some ladies who gave me a bath, brushed me, sprayed me, and other things I won’t mention. I was SO happy when my mom picked me up! The ladies told my mom that I was really good. Now everyone says I’m so soft and smell good.

A bunch of people came to my house on Thanksgiving. I got in trouble during dinner because I stole the napkins off of people’s laps and shredded them. To distract me, my mom made me a BIG Kong filled with lots of peanut butter and treats. I think I’ll try stealing napkins more often!

My friend Giggles stopped over on Saturday to play. Here are some pictures:

Today dad took the bird out of the cage and I was able to grab its tail. Here are some pictures of me and that darn bird:

Snow and other stuff

It's snowing really hard here at my house. When I go outside, the snow is up past my knees! Some things I don't like about snow: it covers up all the good smells, we go for fewer walks, I don't get to see my friends in the neighborhood, and I hate the little snowballs that stick to my feet and belly. Some things I like about the snow is running around in it, looking for my toys hidden in the snow, and chasing snowballs.

I thought I'd write a little bit about my family. My dad plays with me, takes me for walks, and brushes me. My mom plays with me, takes me for walks, and any time I'm near her, I can get her to scratch my back. And at night if I whine a little and look at her with my sad, brown eyes, she'll get down on the floor with me and scratch my whole body until I fall asleep. My mom also lets me get up on the bed and couch as long as my dad isn't watching! My human sister plays with me and scratches me.

My dad took away my "Hide-a-Squirrel" toy yesterday because I tore it apart. It made a cool crinkle noise and I had to tear it apart to find out what was inside. I still have the little squirrels, and I love squeeking them loudly!

I heard my mom say that I need a bath before Thanksgiving because we are having company. I'll let you know how that goes!

Happy Howl-o-ween!

I had a lot of fun over Halloween. My mom and dad took me to a doggie costume party, and here is a picture of me and my friend Toby in our costumes. I have my Cleveland Indians jersey on and Toby had a bee costume on. She is one of my best friends at doggie daycare.

Then on Halloween night, a bunch of kids dressed in costumes came to our house. Here is a picture of me checking out the candy my dad was handing out. I really liked the smell of one of the candies because it smelled like peanut butter, which I get every day in my Kong. I helped by putting my head in all of the kids bags to check what they've gotten so far.

Hide A Squirrel

My mom and dad wanted to thank the G.R.I.N. Golden Gala organizers and volunteers for another great Gala! They brought home this cool toy called "Hide-a-Squirrel". There are three little squirrels inside a soft tree trunk. As I pull each squirrel out, I shake them as hard as I can to make sure they aren't going to run away. Unfortunately, my mom takes the whole thing away from me before I can tear any of them up. (Darn, that is the best part!) Here is a picture of me playing with my new toy...

GRIN Gala

My mom and dad will be at the GRIN Gala this weekend. I guess dogs aren't invited :-( I can't wait to see what my parents bring home for me! I hope everyone has fun!
